Budget and financial concerns around the university
Dear colleagues,
Thank you for your participation in the survey we sent concerning budget cuts.
Based on this feedback and our conversations with various members and faculty, the chapter leadership will hold an open town hall on the university budget and budget cuts on September 25th at 6:30 pm.
You can RSVP and add the event to your calendar here.
In this town hall, we will discuss the various concerns that faculty members have, what we know about budget cuts at the university, and the actions that the chapter is taking in this regard.
In the lead-up to the town hall, we will hold conversations with department, program, and unit chairs and leaders, senate representatives, and other faculty and university administration members. We will also send out AAUP guidance on budgeting, which we believe will help ensure a transparent, fair, and constructive process.
In the meantime, we invite all members who have not filled out the survey to do so, as your opinions help shape the chapter’s strategy. We will also discuss our plans in detail during the monthly chapter meeting on 9/9.
Please do not hesitate to send us your thoughts – we are always happy to meet or speak over the phone.
In solidarity!
Lisa, Ahmed, Siobhan and Graham
