ICE and Immigration Enforcement on Campus

Dear colleagues,

The new year started with new challenges. Nationally, we witnessed the illegal US military action in Venezuela and the murder of 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good by ICE agents. The Trump administration's attacks on higher education have continued with rising concerns about how the approaching midterm elections might affect the administration’s policies.

At Hopkins, we congratulate Provost Ray Jayawardhana on his new position as President of the California Institute of Technology. The impending changes in university administration will present our community with new and significant challenges. The need for a transparent, collaborative process to select the new provost, who can help steer the university administration in these difficult times, has never been more important.

On both national and local fronts, the time to act is now!
